Lekan holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the College of Medicine, University of Ilorin. He is an alumnus of the World Bank Institute, Washington DC, USA, with a certificate in Health Economics.
He acquired relevant clinical experience via working with Bolori Comprehensive Health Centre & Nakowa Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, and Salvations Clinics, Lagos, as well as the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin.
He started his health management career via stints with Hygeia HMO and UNIC Health as Service Provider Coordinator before he joined KBL Healthcare Limited in 2007 as a pioneer staff, and rose to the level of an Assistant General Manager.
He currently serves on the Board of Imperial Health Advocacy Foundation (IHAF), a Non – Governmental Organization and FIM Farms & Allied Services Limited.
He has attended various trainings on Health Insurance, Business administration and Leadership with reputable institutions like the Lagos Business School. He also participated in the International Finance Corporation Business of Health in Africa Forum, Lagos and Conference of Health in Africa, Abuja Nigeria.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Health Insurance and Managed Care of Nigeria, and also a registered member of the Institute of Healthcare Management (UK), and the Nigerian Medical Association. He is happily married.
